Trainer dude uses google

He took the job because it was the first gym to offer.  At 22 years old, fresh from graduation, he didn’t even have a certification.  But that was coming soon.  On Saturday, only 3 days away, he would sit for the exam, and there was no way in hell he was going to fail.

The gym was about 10000 square feet.  It had a bunch of treadmills, elliptical machines, and a few stationary bicycles.

In the middle part of the gym, about 14 pieces of Cybex machine weights were stationed.

Down a dark hallway, in the back of the gym was the free weight area.  Dumbells, and more dumbells.  A couple of squat racks, a hack squat, a 45 degree leg press, some kettlebells and a bunch of benches, crammed into this corner in the rear of the building.

The 22 year old soon to be certified trainer was excited.  He was told the following:

I got scammed and a great deal for you

Before I started my career as a fitness business coach, I read a book.  Well, I read more than one, but there was one in particular that was more directly related to what I do.

In this book, the author provided a lot of specific and applicable information.  And his biggest and most central message to his readers is this:  Create great content, and give your best content away for FREE.

I may have shopped your gym

I called a local gym the other day.   I have no intention of joining.  I wanted to see how they handled telephone inquiries.  If I had to give a letter grade, I would give it a D+.

If I had to give a pass/fail, it would be a fail.

should you buy that gym?

I was talking to a potential gym buyer the other day.  He is considering purchasing a gym that has been open for 8 years.  The other option that he is exploring is opening one himself from the ground up.

He paid me for an hour of my time and for my expert advice.

Weekly EFT

In one of my recent newsletters, I wrote about changing to weekly EFT, rather than monthly.  Many countries around the world collect money that way.

One gym owner emailed me, writing:

On leadership

Some people believe that leadership is something that can’t be learned.  You either have it or you don’t.  I don’t feel that way.  I think leadership is actually pretty simple.  You just have to want to work at it.

Now, I could bring in my four quadrants of personality, the colors, but I am not going to.  Not because it isn’t important.  It is for sure a difference maker, but I know that hundreds of folks who read this don’t know about my communication tool, and they aren’t going to drop everything they are doing to learn about it.

You can call me pompous........

You can call me pompous and arrogant but I still will want to help you change more lives.  Not because I like you, because once you call me pompous and arrogant, I no longer think much of you, but I still want you to change more lives.

Because if you change more lives, you may become a smarter person.  A better person.  The kind of person who understands that if you call somebody pompous and arrogant, you may just be saying more about yourself than you are about them.

Now, there is nothing wrong with being honest, direct and saying what you feel.  But then we would have to establish your definition of pompous and your definition of arrogant.  And I am not certain but somewhat confident that I could get you to agree that while some people may agree with your definition, they may not agree that it is an apt description of the person you are referring to.  And some people may agree.

You can call me pompous and arrogant but I still want to help you change more lives.  Not because you don’t know what you are doing.  But because I know many things you don’t know.

If I have not established that, then I can call you obtuse.

Keep changing lives.

What they want, what they need

I have always believed that it isn’t about money.  That if you do what you love to do and do it well, AND you combine all of that with some business training, success will come.

Of course, success is defined differently from person to person.

In my case, as a fitness business coach, success is defined, currently, as not having to rely on working for “the man”, living life on my own terms, running around helping gym owners, get compensated enough for it to afford a basic minimalist lifestyle while imbibing on some decent scotch and a couple of cheap cigars per week.

Fat folks are clueless

People are clueless.  I mean, honestly, many are really fucking clueless.  About many things. I am one of these people when it comes to certain topics.  I know nothing about hockey.  I know very little about the stock market, and even less about how to bake a cake.

But the thing is, I don’t care about those things.

Million Dollar Gym

I wrote a short ebook, “The 7 steps to GiGANTIC gym profits” three years ago.  It is only 25 pages long, but full of the necessary info to help gym owners change more lives.  The plan was to expand on the book, getting it up to a more robust 200 pages.  This plan has not been abandoned necessarily, but it is definitely on the back burner.  You can get ebook and a coaching call for a few bucks.  www.jasonlinse.com under the store tab.

Instead, I want to write a book titled, “Million dollar gym”.
