I think the biggest overall challenge that small box fitness centers face is finding, affording, keeping, and training their employees. Who in the hell is motivated to work 24 hours per week at 10 dollars per hour with no other benefits and hardly any direction?

If you own a fitness center, you need to make sure that you and your salespeople understand that lead generation is a partnerhsip between you and them.

Half of the leads should be generated from the club owner. This includes paying for mailings, paper inserts, door hangers, billboards, etc.

I can do it on my own.

If you own a small fitness center, whether it’s part of a franchise system or not, AND you sell less than 12K per month in PT, you aren’t reaching your potential.  I have been in an around dozens and dozens of 3000 square foot fitness centers in the past 7 or so years.  I rarely see a member working out with a Personal Trainer/Fitness Professional.  And sometimes, when I think I am seeing it, turns out it’s a friend training a friend.
